We want to ensure your stay at Turning Tide Cottages is as comfortable and seamless as possible. Below you’ll find answers to commonly asked questions and important policies to help you plan your visit.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Are your cottages accessible?
Our cottages are designed with accessibility in mind. The entrances have no stairs, and all doorways are accessible. The king-sized bedrooms provide ample space for those with mobility challenges. Additionally, two cottages—Cozy Forest and Beach Glass—feature bathrooms with seated showers and handheld showerheads for added comfort. However, due to space constraints, our bathrooms do not include grab bars.

Are you open year-round?
Yes! Turning Tide Cottages is open year-round. Each cottage is built for all-season use and equipped with energy-efficient heat pumps to keep you cozy during the winter months. Enjoy watching dramatic winter storms from the comfort of your cottage.

Can I bring my pet?
We welcome pets in three of our designated pet-friendly cottages (Moody Ocean, Funky Sunset and Beach). An additional pet cleaning fee applies. For full details, please see our Pet Policy. Undeclared/paid for pets will be subject to a $100 fee.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please refer to our Cancellation Policy for detailed information about cancellations and refunds.
What happens if the ferry is cancelled?
If the ferry is cancelled and you are unable to make your reservation, we are happy to cancel and fully refund your stay. If the ferry is cancelled while you are on Grand Manan, we will do our best to accommodate you and offer a discounted stay.

Booking & Payment Policies

Payment Schedule:
-
50% of the total booking is required at the time of reservation.

The remaining 50% is due 8 days prior to check-in for bookings made through our website and Airbnb.

*Payment schedule may change if booked directly with host.

Damage Deposits:

Moody Ocean, Funky Sunset, Beach Glass and Cozy Forest cottages: $200 pre-authorized deposit.

Deposits will be pre-authorized 1 day prior to check-in and released 5 days after check-out, pending no extra charges.

Any damages or fees incurred will be taken from the damage deposit.

Cancellation Policies

14+ Days Before Check-In: Full refund.

8-13 Days Before Check-In: 50% of the total booking will be charged.

7 Days or Fewer Before Check-In: No refund.

During Your Stay: Guests canceling mid-stay will be charged in full for nights stayed.
Extenuating Circumstances

Pet Policy

A maximum of TWO pets are allowed in Moody Ocean, Funky Sunset, and Beach Glass cottages.

Pets must:

Be kept off furniture and beds unless a pet sheet (provided by the host) is used.

Never be left unattended inside cottages or on the property.
-
Be leashed at all times while on TTC property, including the beach.

Be cleaned with grey towels provided by TTC. *Any regular towel damage caused by pets will result in a charge for replacement.

Owners are responsible for any damages caused by pets.
-
Important: Any undeclared or unpaid pets will result in an automatic $100 charge.
Check-In & Check-Out Times

Check-In: 3:00 PM

Check-Out: 10:00 AM (Late departures must be confirmed with the host in advance, a fee may be charged)
General Cottage Rules

Quiet Hours: 10:00 PM - 7:00 AM.

Smoking: Strictly prohibited inside the cottages – a $200 fine will apply for violations.

Open Flames: No open flames (e.g., candles) are allowed inside.

Toilets: Only flush toilet paper – charges will apply for blockages caused by other materials.

Parties/Events: Not allowed unless pre-approved with the host.
Outdoor & Property Rules

Fires:

Permitted in fire pits or on the beach.

Fires must be extinguished by 10:30 PM.

Patio Furniture:

Return cushions to the King Room closet if rain or high winds are expected, or when checking out.

Return all outdoor furniture to its original positions – a $25 charge will apply for non-compliance.

Electric Vehicles: EV charging is not permitted without prior arrangement.
Kitchen Rules

Use cutting boards only – cutting directly on countertops will result in a damage charge.

Use silicone utensils for pots and pans – avoid using metal or silverware.
-
Do not dispose of food in the drains.
Windows & Doors

Heat Pump/AC: Do not run the heat pump or air conditioning if windows or patio doors are open.
-
Rain: Close windows and patio doors if rain is expected or occurring overnight – guests are liable for water damage caused by neglect.
